Looking likely this this is the last shot of our famed lights. The digging starts this morning (4th March) and its probable the power will need to be cut as well.
It seems ironic how bright they look in the picture as many of us know they provide little or no light on the actual playing surfaces!
The curtain came down on them at 9pm last night with Captain Caroline casually flicking the switch without any warning or the opportunity for tears to be shed. Graham Court ceremonially retired the ladders that Wizzo Brown has used manfully for years to perch atop and give the lights ‘ a wee shoogle’ to encourage them to work.
Of course its progress but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take a moment to reflect on the Dunkirk spirit shown by coaches, members and visitors in playing under these lights for the last 15 years.
